Coming down straight

Magpie Mary and Kaycee Carey

Magpie Mary was fast away off the 600 metre mark and started to chase down the front marker Reggie Ledgie.  Down the back straight Reggie Ledgie started to canter and continued cantering on and off until Norman's gate where Reggie Ledgie veered wide and took Magpie Mary off the track with him.  Reggie Ledgie definitely wasn't on his best behaviour for young Cameron Jacques tonight.  However, this didn't faze Magpie Mary or her driver Kaycee Carey as they pushed on to go to the front which gave Kaycee a wonderful 7th birthday present by winning.  It was a nice run by Westbury Bogart who railed around the corner to chase home Magpie Mary to finish 2nd ahead of Aadelaidee Lady.

Way To Go on outside of Little Kizz

Mission Impossible started on the front mark and led until the top of the home straight before he went for a gallop and was overtaken by Little Kizz.  After taking over the lead Little Kizz was trotting nicely out in front but 10 metres from the line started to gallop and lost ground with Way To Go going to the front, Little Kizz settled for a couple of strides before galloping again and making ground to take the lead over again.  As the margin was only a head between Little Kizz and Way To Go the race was awarded to Way To Go.  Fast class pony Cheeky Charlie chased home hard from his back mark of 720 metres to finish 3rd.

Wandarra Tess in front of Swamp Fire

Wandarra Tess and Samantha Pascoe

The front marker little PJ was in front with 150 metres to go before Swamp Fire tonight being driven for the first time by his owner Nicholas Brown took over the lead and looked to have the race won but in a blink of the eye the backmarker Wandarra Tess driven by Samantha Pascoe dashed along the rails and went on to win by 10 metres and score his first win for the season.  The placings were Wandarra Tess 1st, Swamp Fire 2nd and 3rd went to Midnight Star who later in the night was Santa's pony.
