Born To Be Wild being presented Ribbon by Jill Neilson

Born To Be Wild won his first race of the season with a lead all the way victory in the first race on Saturday night for Hayley Lehman.

Beginning as the sole front marker, Hayley kept niggling at Born To Be Wild to keep its mind on the job and eventually ran away with a solid leading victory thanks to a good front-running drive.

Miss Vee began well for Matthew Williams from the 600m mark and chased hard to narrow the margin but had to settle for a gallant second place.

Spirit sprinted up the home straight strongly for Shannon Platts to emerge from the pack and take home the third place ribbon.

Midnight Star being presented Ribbon by Naomi Shelbourn

Sharni Newman took control of the third race of the night aboard Midnight Star, making up a stack of ground in the run to the finish to snatch an easy win.

Early leader PJ found himself a long way in front of the field before Sharni stoked up Midnight Star and warmed him up to the chase, gradually eating up the margin and working to the lead in the home straight.

Wandarra Tess flew home late to snatch second place with Jacob Starick in the sulky and Jennifer Lehmann drove well and took the inside runs, utilising the sprint lane to pick up third place with My Little Pony.

Cheeky Charlie crossing the line comfortably

The final event of the night saw Cheeky Charlie and Jacob Starick fly from the back mark around the field and into the lead in the shadows of the post to steal victory away from Little Paleface.

After beginning well, Little Paleface drew away from the other runners in the field but Cheeky Charlie had his measure, making ground all the way and eventually picking up Little Paleface in the final 50m.

Sundance stuck to his guns and ran a credible third place with Brett Lowe in the sulky to round out a good nights racing for a good crowd on the final night of summer.
