With only 3 weeks to go and the point nights completed it is time for some discretionary racing to finish off the season.  It was a showery day and at times it looked as though the pony trots meeting might have to be cancelled but with the sky clearing about 2.00 pm it was decided to go ahead.

Thank you to Lachlan Stace for calling the pony trots tonight.  Lachlan was also up bright and early calling three trials at Globe Derby the next morning.

In the first race tonight the Shetland class there was only a field of four with a few late scratchings all for different reasons.   Swamp Fire was off the front mark from Pee Wee 50, Midnight Star and Ben Ten.  As the starter said ‘go’ Pee Wee 50 stood flat footed and didn’t want to run but eventually was coaxed away by Shaniah Ogilvy.  Turning for home Swamp Fire had a very good lead with Midnight Star and Ben Ten both making a move around Pee Wee 50.

Ben Ten and Jason Kittel cruised to the line to win by 10 metres ahead of Swamp Fire (Nicholas Brown) and Midnight Star (Sharni Newman) a neck away in third position.

The field of five all stepped away well with Aadelaidee Lady leading the group of runners after starting on the outside of the front line.  Turning for home Aadelaidee Lady continued to have a good lead over Cowboy Road and Chilli Knights with a long gap back to Born To Be Wild (Cameron Jacques) and Summer Surprise (Sharni Newman).

Aadelaidee Lady (Madison Smith) trotted a lot better tonight and went on to win easily making it two wins for the season ahead of Chilli Knights (Chantelle Rendall) for second just catching Cowboy Road (Jodie Billinger) on the line.

Reggie Ledgie (Cameron Jacques) who started off the front mark never looked in danger and trotted faultlessly all the way to go on and win ahead of Aussie (Jason Kittel) and Mr Mischief close up in third position.  Both Lapanacaton and Wynkie Sweet Fairytales were not on their best behaviours and finished in fourth and fifth position respectively.
