The first race of the day was the Open Class event. When the flag dropped all ponies stepped away safely with Born To Be Wild the early leader from his front mark and was soon challenged by Chocolate Thunder who took over from Born To Be Wild. Cowboy Road, Aussie and So What were all making their runs around the outside and both Lapanacaton and Aadelaidee Lady were slowly putting themselves into race from the back marks.

 

Coming around the bend into the straight Chocolate Thunder still had a 10 meter lead over rest of the field and was trotting strongly. Cowboy Road had made ground to get into second, Aussie was running home along the fence, So What was pulled to the outside to get into the race, Aadelaidee Lady and Lapanacaton made up plenty of ground and Born To Be Wild wasn’t too far away.

 

Chocolate Thunder went on to be an easy winner. Aadelaidee flew home down the outside to grab a placing.

 

The final results were – 1st Chocolate Thunder and Jayden Brewin; Aadelaidee Lady and Madison Smith and 3rd So What and Jennifer Lehmann.

RACE  2 – KAPUNDA HARNESS RACING CLUB SHETLAND TROT

The next race was for the Shetlands. Jessiefoss stepped away nicely and was the early from White Lighting, Midnight Star, the was a small gap back to Ben Ten, Crackerjack and further back was Jimmy Cricket and Wandarra Tess at the rear.

 

Up towards the home turn taking over was White Lightning going to the front, next along was Jessiefoss, both Midnight Star and Ben Ten were trotting along nicely and making up good ground, Crackerjack, Jimmy Cricket and Wandarra Tess were starting their runs from the back.

 

Coming down the straight White Lightning went for home and won by 30 meters bring a trainer double for the Brewin family. There was a good finish for second and third between, Jessiefoss, Ben Ten and Wandarra Tess.

 

The final results were – 1st White Lightning and Annalyse Brewin; Wandarra Tess and Jacinta Gilbert and 3rd Jessiefoss and Alyssa Cappelluti.

The next had a field of seven taking to the track. Born To Be Wild trotted away and had a big lead over the rest of the field which was headed by Cowboy Road, Chocolate Thunder, Aadelaidee Lady, a 15 meter gab back to Mr Mischief, Way To Go and Wynkie Sweet Fairytales.

 

Coming around the bend into the straight Born To Be Wild was leader but Cowboy Road was closing the gap very quickly, Chocolate Thunder was too far away, both Mr Mischief and Way To Go were trotting hard and fast to catch leader and a margin back to Wynkie Sweet Fairytales.

 

Half way down the running Cowboy Road who trotted to perfection took over and went on to score by 10 meters.

 

The final results were – 1st Cowboy Road and Shania-Jai Lines-Lee; Mr Mischief and Bailey Hoare and 3rd Way To Go and Jennifer Lehmann.

RACE  4 – KAPUNDA HARNESS RACING CLUB SHETLAND TROT

The last of the day was the Shetland class with a field of seven. When the flagged dropped Swamp Fire was the leader from Mr Mysterious, Spike It Up, the a bit of a gap back to Midnight Star, White Lightning, Crackerjack and the back marker Wandarra Tess.

 

With roughly 370 meters to go Swamp Fire was still out in front was doing it ok, followed by Mr Mysterious and Spike It Up, Midnight Star was making his move towards the leader. White Lightning, Crackerjack and Wandarra Tess were making up ground from their handicaps.

 

Coming down the straight Swamp Fire was out in front still, Mr Mysterious was getting closer with stride, Spike It Up was following Mr Mysterious through, Midnight Star was pulled to the outside to make his run and 10 meters back to White Lightning, Crackerjack and Wandarra Tess who were racing together.

 

Midnight Star was finishing strongly down the outside and went on to win by a couple of meters.

 

The final results were – 1st Midnight Star and Sharni Newman; Mr Mysterious and Bailey Hoare and a deadheat for 3rd between Swamp Fire and Nicholas Brown and Spike It Up and Alyssa Cappelluti.
