Greenwald Paceway crowd enthusiasts saw 2 very close finishes in the Graham and Karen Jones handicap and also the P & L livestock and Real estate’s Young Drivers of the Future cup. Blitzin’ Billy was a late scratching for Courtney Sealey, so she was re-paired with Blaze for race 2.

Race 1- Frontmarkers Buddy Boom Boom and Evie Sealey, jumped off their marks quickly, with midfielders Marmalade and driver Bryce Bygate quickly approaching. It wasn’t until the field reached the home straight that Nicola Bowditch aboard Jerry took their smart move. Nicola drove home for the race one win ahead of Blaze (Amber Formosa), Marmalade (Bryce Bygate), Jackim (Jacob Opperman), Slim Dusty (Amity Formosa), Minty (Jessica Shepherd) and last over the line was Buddy Boom Boom for young driver Evie Sealey. Both Nicola Bowditch and her pony Jerry were very excited about their win.

Race 2- this next rave was the annual Young Drivers of the Future cup, sponsored by P & P Livestock and Real-estate, which all drivers had their eager minds set on. At the handicappers whistle, all ponies started the race at a smooth and steady pace. It was a tiring effort for them all including backmarker Jackim who was on the 800 metre mark. Down the home straight the battle was on between Minty (Jessica Shepherd) and Marmalade (Bryce Bygate). Minty was just a length ahead of Marmalade , Jackim (Jacob Opperman) received third, followed by Jerry (Nicola Bowditch), Blaze (Courtney Sealey), Buddy Boom Boom was next over the line with driver Evie Sealey in a flawless drive and Slim Dusty was next over the finish line driven brilliantly by Keeley Formosa. A jubilant Minty and Jessica Shepherd took out the Young Drivers of the Future Cup.

Mount Gambier Pony Trots would like to thank  P & L livestock and real-estate for their generous support each season. We also appreciate G & K Jones help with the pony trotters, donating prizes for our raffle and for donating a steer.
