S.A. Pony Trots

Pony races returned to the Greenwald Paceway on Sunday evening with 8 ponies & drivers on the track.

Race 1, sponsored by Kevin & Lyn Von Duve Plumbing Services was an exciting affair with all ponies setting off at the whistle & settling well.

Snoopy & Kylie Shepherd took the lead early from Run Jemma Run & Joshua Micallef. Willow & Abbey Gull struggled to maintain momentum, while Chasing The Stars (Grady Hutchesson) trotting well, made ground on the leader.

First season driver, Aaron Shepherd (Frankie Under Fire) showed his natural skill to urge his pony on to challenge Chasing The Stars on the line.

Minty performed well with her new driver Matthew Shepherd, but was unable to catch the leaders, while Marmalade (Jackie Barker) chased hard behind. Pumpkin (Emma Greenfield) trotted roughly & stayed to the rear.

It was a faultless Snoopy that hit the line in 1^st position ahead of Chasing The Stars in 2^nd and Frankie Under Fire into 3^rd. They were followed by Minty , Marmalade, Pumpkin, Willow & Run Jemma Run.

It was Grady Hutchesson & his pony Chasing The Stars that won their first race taking out the, Ros & Ron Thomas Handicap. Minty (Matthew Shepherd) trotted well into 2^nd & Marmalade in 3^rd place.

Chasing The Stars began well racing to the front & looked comfortable in the lead. Minty trotted faultlessly to overcome the large handicap and quickly made ground. Marmalade was manoeuvred with skill through the field to sit behind Minty. However Chasing the Stars had all the answers and ran away an easy winner.

Snoopy was unable to handle the pressure & broke stride, while Willow & Run Jemma Run faded. Frankie Under Fire raced hard but was overcome & Pumpkin once again struggled with her gait.
