Tonight's pony racing was in memory of Shane Sandercock who tragically lost his life (1997-2002). We thank Trevor, Andria and Jason for presenting the lovely rosettes.

When the starter said go all ponies trotted away nicely with Jessiefoss out in front from PJ, Mr Mysterious, Razzle Dazzle and Swamp Fire.

 

Jessiefoss was out in front but he veered and headed towards Norman’s gate Alyssa straightened her pony and got him going again, while all this was happening Mr Mysterious raced to the lead and didn’t looked back. Coming down the straight Mr Mysterious still had a handy lead over the rest of the field, Jessiefoss was out chasing down the leader but the winning post came up with Mr Mysterious 1st, Jessiefoss 2nd and Razzle Dazzle 3rd.

In the second event of the night Ooh La Laar stepped away nicely from So What who was having her first race start, the followed by Born To Be Wild, Cowboy Road, Little Kizz, Summer Surprise, Chilli Knights, Chocolate Thunder and Aadelaidee Lady.

 

Approaching the home turn So What took the lead from Ooh La Laar with both Cowboy Road and Summer Surprise coming into the race quickly. Half down the straight Summer Surprise stormed down the outside and went on to win by 10 metres with Chilli Knights finishing strongly for 2nd and Aadelaidee Lady made up a lot of ground to get 3rd.

This win for Summer Surprise was very emotional for both families.

RACE  3– SHANE SANDERCOCK MEMORIAL SHETLAND TROT

All five ponies trotted away in perfect style with Midnight Star and Ben Ten going stride for stride for the lead following these two front markers were Crackerjack, Jimmy Cricket and Wandarra Tess

 

Ben Ten on the inside was the leader coming around the bend into the straight from Midnight Star and pulling to the outside was Jimmy Cricket who was making ground fast with both Wandarra Tess and Crackerjack taking the short way home along the inside. Jimmy Cricket went on to win by 5 metres from Wandarra Tess 2nd and Crackerjack came 3rd.

 

 

This win of Jimmy Cricket has been a long time coming, he hasn’t raced more many years and he showed he still got the fight in his old body.

All ponies trotted away well in the last race of the night. Reggie Ledgie was out in front by 25 metres from Lapanacaton, Way To Go, Mr Mischief, Aussie and Wynkie Sweet Fairytales.

 

Reggie Ledgie lead all the way to the home straight where he was tackled by Way To Go with Lapanacaton and Mr Mischief making their runs by coming `three wide. Half way down the straight Way To Go had put 20 metres on rest of field and went on to be a comfortable winner from Mr Mischief in 2nd and Lapanacaton not far away in 3rd
