As most of the field stepped away the backmarker Aadelaidee Lady had other ideas and spun around so by the time she got going she was quite a distance behind.  Magpie Mary also was naughty and thought she was at Morphettville racetrack and an attendant had to help Kaycee Carey pull her up and didn’t complete the course.

Back to the field around the top corner there was Reggie Ledgie trotting nicely out in front with close up Born To Be Wild, Whataday, Spirit close to the rails and Westbury Bogart out wider with a gap back to Aadelaidee Lady.   Half way down the home straight with Reggie Ledgie out in front and looking like being in the placings he took an unexpected left hand turn and went inside the track, when he came back on to the track he was in 5th position.  This left Born To Be Wild out in front giving Jennifer Lehmann her first win for the night, close up was Westbury Bogart on the outside and an almost dead heat for third between Spirit on the rails and Whataday in the centre. The placings were Born To Be Wild and Jennifer Lehmann 1st, Westbury Bogart and Jacinta Gilbert 2nd and Spirit and Matthew Basto 3rd.

All ponies trotted away well in the shetland class tonight.  Approaching Norman’s Gate PJ had a good lead ahead of a group of ponies including Swamp Fire, Eddy’s A Fake, Ben Ten, My Little Pony, Midnight Star and Crackerjack with a further gap to backmarker Wandarra Tess.

My Little Pony went to the line strong for an easy win over  Crackerjack and Midnight Star.  This gave Jennifer Lehmann a double for the night.  Well Done.

RACE 4 – MEDIUM CLASS

6th

Monkey Business

Chantelle Dodd

All stepped away well with a bunched field heading out of the back straight with Chilli Knights in front, Lapanacaton in the death seat, Petti Cheval 3-wide, Little Paleface in the box seat and Monkey Business one-out one-back, the young drivers were definitely driving tight tonight with a gap back to our backmarker Cheeky Charlie who was making up ground.

Approaching the line it was always going to be a close finish with Chilli Knights on the rails, Lapanacaton in the centre and Little Paleface who had pulled 3-wide in the straight but the super fast finishing Cheeky Charlie made it an almost 4-way dead heat winning on the line ahead of Little Paleface, Lapanacaton and Chilli Knights for 4th.  A nose separated the first four placegetters.  Very impressive.
