Congratulations to all of the drivers this evening, as we had a number of ponies that did not appear to appreciate the blustery conditions and proved a challenge to handle. Furthermore, the sponsor Richard Marsden, representing Kohnke’s Own, commented on the way in which the ponies were presented, and made special mention of how polite all of the children were.

Reggie Ledgie led early
from Born To Be Wild, Westbury Bogart, Spirit, Magpie Mary and Aadelaidee Lady.
Off the back, and as
Reggie Ledgie started to give Cameron Jacques a difficult drive, Born To Be
Wild went to the lead from Spirit, Magpie Mary hugging the pegs, and Westbury
Bogart who was forced wide with Aadelaidee Lady by the galloping Reggie Ledgie.
Born To Be Wild turned
with a big break. Magpie Mary was coming quickly, but then lost momentum as she
galloped, and it was enough for Jennifer Lehmann and Born To Be Wild to go on
to win by two lengths. Magpie Mary and Kaycee Carey just held onto second from
a fast finishing Aadelaidee Lady driven by Madison Smith, who also would have
finished much closer bar for galloping in the straight. Spirit and Westbury
Bogart weren’t far away, and Reggie Ledgie was pulled up at the top of the
straight.

Summer Surprise began well, but the same couldn’t be said for Megalight whose driver Jacinta Gilbert did well to control her, and she took no further part in the race.
Little Kizz, Mr Murphy, Way To Go and Mr Mischief all chased out after Summer Surprise, but the newcomer was going great guns in front.
As Mr Murphy galloped, Mr Mischief made a sweeping run around the outside to lead the others out after the tear-away leader, but it was all to no avail, as Sharni Newman kept Summer Surprise going to win on debut from a brave Mr Mischief driven by Matthew Williams, with a gap to Little Kizz and Christie Gilbert. Then followed Mr Murphy and Way To Go.

PJ from the front and Wandarra Tess off the back mark both galloped away.
PJ led by a big margin from Swamp Fire. Eddy’s A Fake galloped and was passed by My Little Pony, with a long way off to Till We Meet Again and Wandarra Tess last.
Turning for home and PJ still led clearly from Swamp Fire making ground, with My Little Pony also coming into contention. There was still a big margin away to Eddy’s A Fake, who was about to be passed by Wandarra Tess, who was starting to wind up, and Till We Meet Again.
Half way up the straight PJ was looking like the winner from Swamp Fire, as My Little Pony galloped and swung sideways inconveniencing Wandarra Tess. However, Matthew Basto was able to steer a course around the trouble, and Wandarra Tess finished too quickly for Bryce Gilbert and PJ, with Swamp Fire driven by Nicholas Brown a close third. Not far away followed My Little Pony and Till We Meet Again, with a gap to Eddy’s A Fake.

Petti Cheval went away nicely and led from Lapanacaton, Chilli Knights, Monkey Business, Little Paleface and a long way off was Cheeky Charlie, who was giving away a big start.
As they turned out of the back straight, Lapanacaton moved up outside Petti Cheval and Chilli Knights dropped down to the one out and one back position.
The leader went roughly, and as Lapanacaton took the front, Chilli Knights got to the inside and moved through to a narrow lead, with Monkey Business up to third out wide.
Into the straight, Chilli Knights and Lapanacaton raced together, with a possible challenger appearing to be Little Paleface, finding a way through to third.
As Chilli Knights got a length clear of Lapanacaton, Little Paleface went for a run on the inside, but Brodie Webster looked like Gavin Lang as he nursed Chilli Knights to the line ahead of Little Paleface and Emma Johnson on his inside, and Nicholas Brown and Lapanacaton on his outside. Not far away was Monkey Business, clear of Petti Cheval, and a long way off was Cheeky Charlie who was not on his best behaviour and found the big handicap beyond him.
