The first race of the night it had a field of six ponies. PJ driven by Branden Fuller was the early leader from his stable mate Razzle Dazzle with Bryce Gilbert aboard, followed by Swamp Fire with Nicholas Brown and the two backmarkers My Mysterious with Bailey Hoare and last week’s winner Jessiefoss and Alyssa Cappelluti in the sulky.

Coming into the straight it was a two pony race with My Mysterious on the inside and Jessiefoss on the outside, Swamp Fire was still trying to catch these two leaders, PJ and Razzle Dazzle were trailing him. With about 60 metres to go Jessiefoss ran down the track and caused interference to My Mysterious who lost all winning chances. Crossing the line Jessiefoss was the winner from My Mysterious 2nd and Swamp Fire came 3rd.

The stewards didn’t give the all clear until after a discussion regarding the incident in the home straight. The placings were reversed with the winner now being My Mysterious from Jessiefoss in 2nd and Swamp Fire grabbing 3rd.
