Greenwald Paceway was alive with action on Saturday night with 2 pony races on the agenda.
Race 1 sponsored by Lake City Taxis was won by an excited Kylie Shepherd who celebrated her third win for the season with her pony Snoopy. They jumped away well from the start & maintained their lead to the finish line in a fast time. Minty (Hayley Greenfield) who was trying hard to close the gap, stormed home for second but the finish line came up too early. Frankie Under Fire ran a solid race maintaining a consistent speed & a faultless gait to come in third for Matthew Shepherd. Pumpkin ran into fourth, from Pamela, Marmalade,Slim Dusty and Willow.
Race 2 sponsored by Barker’s Racing Stables ended in a quinella for the Greenfield sisters.
First over the line was Minty with Hayley Greenfield. In the home straight Hayley guided her pony through a gap in a wall of front-markers to race home to victory. She was followed closely by Pumpkin & Emma Greenfield who opted for an inside run, but soon found that was taken by Slim Dusty (Stacey Barker). Chasing Minty down the the straight Pumpkin cruised into second place after winning at Globe Derby last week.
Third placed Marmalade (Jackie Barker) chased Pumpkin & Minty through the gap in the field but was unable to make further ground.
Slim Dusty (Stacey Barker) improved in the second race to come fourth, ahead of an improving Pamela (Joshua Micallef), Snoopy (Kylie Shepherd), recent Gold Cup winner Willow (Abbey Gull) who was unable to overcome his new handicap & Frankie Under Fire (Matthew Shepherd).
